Step Sparring

1 Step Sparring

To be promoted to your next grade, you are required to perform 1-Step Sparring. You may also to be asked to perform any 3 step, Semi-Free or 2 step sparring techniques.

Free Sparring

Expect to have to do free sparring on your grading. At this level you should be showing carefully controlled techniques, demonstrating the ability to spot openings or weaknesses in your opponents guard, and exploit these through your attack techniques. In addition you should be guarding, countering and blocking and attacks with your defence and dummy techniques.
Remember that on your grading, you shold be showing off both yours and your opponents skills, you would loose marks for being overly aggressive against an opponent who might not be as strong as you in a free-sparring arena

Belt Meanings

RED

Signifies danger, cautioning the student to exercise control, and warning the opponent to stay away.

BLACK

opposite of White, therefore signifying maturity and proficiency in Tae Kwon-do. Also indicates the wearers imperviousness to darkness and fear.

Pattern

Hwa-Rang - 29 moves

Interpretation

Hwa Rang means “flowering youth”, and is named after the Hwa Rang youth group which originated in the Silla Dynasty about 1350 years ago. This group eventually became the driving force for the unification of the three kingdoms of Korea. The 29 movements refer to the 29th Infantry Division, where Tae Kwon-Do developed into maturity.
