White Belt - Beginner Information

You are training with the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain (the TAGB). The founder of Tae Kwon-Do is retired Major General Choi Hong Hi (deceased), 9th Degree black belt.

Tae Kwon Do literally means "The Way of Hand and Foot" or "The art of hand and foot fighting".

"TAE" means Foot
"KWON" means Hand
"DO" means "The Way Of"

Tae Kwon-Do is the Korean art of self defence, developed from a number of Korean arts like "Soo Bak" and "Taek Kyon". These date back over two thousand years. The best hand moves were added later. The Name Tae Kwon-Do was invented in 1955 by retired Major General Choi Hong Hi (9th Dan), the founder. This was done to unify the Korean art so it could be spread around the world.
